checking up on the dartmouth application

Is there any way to check up on the status of my application - or tell if the admissions officer received all parts of it?

Yeah I'm wondering this too.

When my DS applied ED, we included self addressed postcards to each component of the application Example, teachers/peer recommendation: included the postcard together with the form (top part filled) and the stamped envelope for the teacher to mail it directly to Dartmouth. The same for the common applications, we included a postcard.
When the postcards came back, we know exactly when the item was received.
It is not necessary to include the postcards but it was worth the piece of mind.

The admissions office do contact the applicant if any of the component is missing. A friend received a letter telling him that Dartmouth had not received his peer recommendations and to ask his peer to mail it in.

Dartmouth doesn't have any online interface where you can check the status of your application? :confused:

Peer recommendation for Dartmouth? Is it compulsory?

Yes it is. :)

^ Wait I remember someone posted that he/she didn't send a peer rec. :confused:

The peer rec is compulsory, but obviously they're not insane enough to automatically reject you just because you didn't submit it. In other words, DO send a peer rec. Don't abuse the loophole here for students who forgot to send one, because:

It probably will lower your chances of admission;

If you're going to be a Dartmouth student, you have to abide by the honor code which gives us helluva lot of freedom to do things, and helluva lot of responsibility about them.

In short, you '12s are the worst class ever. Especially if you don't send peer recs.

An '11 already trying to say the '12s are the worst class ever? Wow.

Obviously I can't speak for the college, but I can speak from experience. At some point, you guys will be notified with a PIN/password to login to a site to check on the status of your application. I wouldn't worry too much about it for now - it's very, very early in the process.
