To all those who will be joining as sophomores in Fall 2006 in SAS and SEAS…do any of you have past papers in Chem 101 saved on your computers? I would like to take a look at them as I am taking the placement test in 101 and 102. I have not been able to get hold of Zumdahl’s textbook, from where I could have practised problems. If anyone has past papers in Chem 101 please personal message me.

We used the Zumdahl book for AP Chem this year, and you can find the problems everywhere online with answers.... just search google for Zumdahl Chapter __ Problems or something.. It usually works!

I tried various combinations..still not working. Any more tips?

you can ask the tutoring center for old tests...

they've removed the old test links from here, but the chem 101 website is helpful with material:

http://www.seas.upenn.edu/~chem101/

chem 102 site was on blackboard only and will not be available to you.

please note that sas and seas sections have totally different tests, so know which one you want when you ask...

the placement exams i believe are common to both seas and sas chem 101,102. if you want to place out, I would just read the zumdahl textbook and do the problems. but if you're in seas and not planning on doing some combined degree program, i wouldn't place out. the seas sections, contrary to what other may say, are pretty well taught imo and you'll learn a lot but only if you're up for it.
