Are we suppose to request the rec too? the freshmen timetable booklet has certain sections of Chem 101 as saying that rec is only required for engineering students, and certain sections it doesn’t say that…i know we need a lab but the rec thing is confusing me HELP

Also, how benificial is the student card (the get a discount on stuff card)?

thanks, what about the chem question? i want to register now, but i wanna make sure what is required for chem 101...the freshmen timeline booklet is confusin the heck out of me

you need recitation, lecture. You also might need the accompanying lab. You probably don't have to GO to the actual recitation (find out first), but you do have to register for everythign on paper

the only coreq. to Chem 101 is the 053 lab, it doesn't say anything about a coreq. with lecture, nor did my advisor say anything about it; the timeline book says "registration required for lec, rec from within this group of sections; coreq - chem053" so does that mean i have 3 hour lab, 3 hour class, and 1 hour recitation a week? (i dont want to be registering for the wrong classes!) and how do you choose which rec you want since there's only a course number input box for choosing which section of the lecture part?

i haven't used the registering site much so sorry if there is an input box for section and rec

yes there is a recitation required for 101. You just register it as a separate class. Pennintouch will remind you, because it'll get unhappy if you reigster for the lecture alone. Yes, chem is supposed to be a 8 hour class (the 3 hour lab comes with a 1 hour lab recitation). But as the end of the semester comes along, no one is at the lab recitation. a lot of math and science classes will have recitations. They're largely optional (chem 101 might be mandatory for CAs), but can be helpful if you have a good TA.

thanks, what about my other question...."and if a course doesn't appear in the freshmen timetable booklet but appears on the BFS website, can we still request it?"

Whatever is on pennintouch you should be able to sign up for... I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about, but if you run into difficulties just talk to your advisor/the department you're interested in

i'm not sure how else to explain this lol, i'm in BFS, there's a course listed on the BFS website and in the packet BFS sent me, BUT it's not listed in the freshmen timeline booklet, and i was just wondering why

it might not be offered this semester...check and see if it shows up on pennintouch...if it does, you should be able to register...if you can't, you'll get an error message when you try to register
