hi guys,i'll be majoring in comp sci - college of engineering and i have to take chem 102. what is the syllabus for that? i checked on UIUC website and there are only chem 102 a, chem 102b, chem 102c. which one do i need to take?
i know the textbook is Zumdahl Chemistry, do i need to study the whole book?
Thanks:)

they’re just section numbers. since there’s a millions freshman taking intro gen chem, there’s gonna be multiple discussion sessions/lectures. you’ll find out more about them during summer registration. you just need to sign up for one discussion and lecture.

i remember using zumdahl in ap chem, so whatever you learned in hs chemistry should be covered again in 102 (nomenclature, structure, acid/base, etc).

You really don’t need the book for CHEM 102. If you take CHEM 104 after, you use the same book, but i really wish I didn’t buy the book. Like chemsrule said, cause there’s so many freshman its just different sections. If Marville is teaching, i would stay clear of her. I HATED that class. Take Yerkes if possible, if not, Huang would be the next best…or Hummel, although he is known as “tricky Tom” cause his exams are tricky, but so were Marville’s so…
