chem 107 for engineers

can you get credit for chem 107 with a five on AP chem?

Maybe this will help:

<a href=“Honors - LAUNCH”>Honors - LAUNCH;

The link says honors, but it gives both honors and ‘regular’ criteria.

According to A&M’s criteria, a 5 on the AP Chemistry exam would give you honors credit for both CHEM 101 & CHEM 102. My son also earned a 5; at the new student conference, we were told that CHEM 107 + lab is a compressed version of these 2 classes done in one semester, so you should have credit for CHEM 107.

I don’t believe so. Chem 107 differs from Chem 101/102 in that it is General Chem for Engineers. It tends to be more math based/less trivial than Chem 101/102. Plus, the AP score page makes no mention of it: [Texas A&M University 08-09 Undergraduate Catalog](http://www.tamu.edu/admissions/catalogs/08-09_UG_Catalog/gen_info/admissions/course_credit/advanced_placement.htm)

Best bet is to contact an engineering counselor.

What is supposed to be the easier course. Chem 101 or Chem 107. I just took intro to chemistry and I can either take Chem 101 next semester or wait and take Chem 107 for my degree but not until next years fall semester. Would I be better off taking Chem 101 while its fresh in my brain or wait and take Chem 107?
