Just wondering if anyone has any advice on CHEM 143A with Ternansky. I will be taking it Winter Quarter, in what is now a week away. I'm a sophomore and just finished taking CHEM 140A this past Fall Quarter with Perrin and ended up getting an A.

Wow, I was in the exact same position as you when I took Chem 143A. He told us that we had to memorize the names and associated structures of all of the organic compounds we used in all of the labs (even Lab 0!), and they did show up on the test. Make sure that you take good notes in class and study them, also. Apparently last year he said he would give pop-midterms, and had quite a bit of fun with that… he didn’t do that when I took it two years ago, but I think his whole goal in doing that was to get students to study the material throughout the quarter and not just the day before the test.

i always enjoyed labs much more than their corresponding lectures – relax, don’t fall behind, and actually try to have some fun in there =)

Thanks for the heads up! Do you know how the final works with chem 143a with Ternansky is it during week 10 like chem 6bl or is it actually during finals week?

I’m taking that class too. Are you going to be in the morning section by any chance?

no, i’m in the afternoon one

The final was during finals week. I remember it being very difficult, lots of mc questions…but, I ended up doing well, so if you got an A in Perrin’s class then you’ll probably do fine also.
