If I have signed up for a lab section (four hour block, weekly), am I also to sign up for a lab lecture? On the online schedule, it specifies that the first hour of each weekly block is in fact the lecture section, but on the same schedule, there are three lecture sections with unique CCNs. Do the four hours comprised by the lab section not technically include lecture, or am I missing something?

Chem 1AL follows the TeleBEARS registration set-up of all classes with discussions or labs: You enter the CCN (Course Control Number) of the lecture, and TeleBEARS will prompt you to select a lab section to enroll in.

Usually the first digit of the lab/dis number corresponds to the lecture number (e.g. Lab or Dis 306 corresponds to Lec 003), but because there are so many Chem 1AL labs, I’m assuming that this doesn’t apply here. Instead it seems that the three lectures exist only on TeleBEARS to permit enrollment of approximately the same number of students who would otherwise be taking Chem 1A (three lectures in Pimentel, or 523 seats per lecture), since none of the lectures have a location or time. The actual lecture would take place during the first hour of the lab period, as stated. Anywho, I’d figure that entering the CCN for any of the three will allow you to enroll in any of the labs. If this is the case, I would suggest enrolling in a 1AL lecture that ISN’T full. Hope that helps!
