Do you get a separate grade if you take Chem 1AL now? Or do you still get an overall grade for both the lab and lecture (4 units)?

Bump, 10char.

I assume it’s a separate grade, because you do not have to take 1A and 1AL concurrently. But anyways, the reason you’re not getting too many responses is because the splitting of 1A and 1AL is a very recent development, so nobody really has experience with it.

I assume it’s a separate grade much like Chem 3A/3AL/3B/3BL. As singh said, this is a very recent development so many of us don’t really know what’s going on. At the very least, Chem 1A was a place where lab scores didn’t help or hurt our grade really back when we took it.

Lol it’s only a matter of time before they split Bio 1B up into Bio 1B and Bio 1BL!

Thanks for your answers, guys. I’m still not sure if this change is a good thing or a bad thing. Technically, if you don’t do so well in lecture then your GPA would be affected to a less extent since it’s only three units (and vice versa with the lab). Then again, it will be harder to get a decent grade in lecture since there are only three midterms now and no extra lab points added to your grade. It’s a win-lose situation, but I seem to favor this recent change.
