Chem 20A

So my books for chem 20A just came in the mail (Oxtoby, Principle of Modern Chemistry 6th Edition) and I also bought the solutions manual. Then I see on bruinwalk that people talk about a course reader that scerri uses. How, when, and for how much do I get this course reader? Judging from bruinwalk, it's very useful in scerri's class. Anybody who has one is willing to sell it to me?

Also, is this book used for chem 20B as well? There is far too much material in this one textbook for a 11 week class.

you dont usually buy used course readers. they are paperback plus they will have tons of writing in them if used. im pretty sure you get scerri’s course reader at the course reader store on broxton. just go there when school starts.

content and page order can change from quarter to quarter, as well as error corrections, so used course readers are usually more hassle than they’re worth. I think scerri’s CR was like $20-30 anyways, not unreasonable.

they were actually $70 lol

i checked my records (yes, i kept a record). scerri’s was $37. 3 years ago. :D

Forget the textbook. Scerri’s reader IS his textbook.

Yeah, elaborating on the above, you really just need the course reader and the text book isn’t necessary at all. Just memorize the course reader and do all the practice problems that come with it and you’ll be fine. And you can’t buy a used course reader since you need the hw booklet that comes with the course reader to turn it in… unless you don’t want hw points. You’re probably also going to have to pay for an online quiz thingy called thinkwell - it’s about 30$ a quarter.
