1) I didn't take the Chem AP and haven't taken Chem 1a/b, but Telebears still allows me to register for Chem 3a for Summer 2012. Do they verify completion of pre-requisites/is there any chance I'll be dropped before the term begins?

2) Is completion of Chem 3al required for enrollment in Bio 1a/l? I want to take Chem 3a this summer but NOT Chem 3al, and I'm afraid I won't be allowed to enroll in Bio 1a/l in the fall.

FYI: I am not a Chem or MCB major--none of these classes have an impact on my major.

If you have not satisfied the pre reqs, they will indeed drop the drop hammer on you, at least thats what I heard for signing up for bio 1a w/o chem 3a; I Imagine that it is similar for other courses too then, but the departments may vary in lacksadaisicalness. Plus, you will really need at least chem 1a/AP chem knowledge for 3a (Thats just my opinion as someone currently in 3a).

I checked the Bio 1a desrciption and it does not specify 3al, so that generally means it is not needed, it they wanted 3al they would specify it.

Good luck with signing up for your courses. :)

Barangers tests are weird, she gives more partial credit than other professors do (I’ve heard), and frankyl, I think the exams have been too easy, I’ve heard where they have classes where the average on exams is like 40-60. The “ease” of the class will screw you over when you begin to realize that the curve is a silent assassin - just my opinion though.

I took AP Chem in high school but had a conflict on the day of the test and didn’t bother to reschedule it. I know it’s a long shot but I already know the 1a material and I don’t want to have to suffer through an entire semester/waste credits. Thanks for the advice!

I think if you go talk to Bob Lamereux and tell him your situation, you will get in the class you need. He is one of the most chill phds I have ever seen.
