Chem 3A midterm #2.......

i got owned pretty badly on that test, i thought a lot of it was difficult. i didn't know how to do one of the synthesis problems at all (the one with Br at the sides of the chain).

multiple choice went pretty badly as well, i left a significant amount blank.

how did you guys do?

:(

I did like EXTREMELY bad and feel like total ****. I left like 2 synthesis problems blank which is like 25 points right there!!! Damn and I spent like a week studying easy questions and these beastly questions come along!!! Why does he have to make it so hard and long!!

It was pretty brutal… I barely finished in time.

I feel like if I had 30 more minutes, things would have gone a LOT better.

some of those multiple choice questions were ****ing ■■■■■■■■. i heard frechet is the professor who puts most useless “fact” questions on the test. pederson supposedly just tests on content alone.

i walked out of Midterm #1 feeling pretty good and got a good grade, but i walked out of MT#2 feeling really bad, so i probably did pretty badly as well. freakin a.

Walked in stoned. Walked out. Stoned.

anyone out there think they actually did good?

Yeah, it seems like we just didn’t have enough time to figure out some of the synthesis problems. And i don’t think Frechet realized how much time we would have to spend on the multiple choice, a lot of those problems required you to write out the synthesis and mechanisms anyway.

I guess we’ll wait till next week to see what the average is. I’m hope there’s a nice curve, last year the midterm was 45% i heard, so if it stays around there, it should be pretty fair.

screw 45. I’m hoping for 35.

avg was 45? wow.

wut was the avg of the 1st midterm from this year again? wasn’t it a lot higher than 45?

btw did you guys get 3 as the answer to the number of bonds between the H and the leaving halide for that 1 multiple choice question?

i left that blank… lol i didn’t know :<(

Yeah, 3, that was probably one of the easier ones. I did not get how to make Br Ch2 ch2 S ch2 ch2 Br out of oxacyclopropane though.

lol i was looking for a “zero” (no direct bonding between the H and the leaving halide lol) option for that multiple choice question cuz it was worded confusingly.

y is it 3…??

yeah my first thought on that question was “where is the 0?”. i ended up not answering it at all.

did frechet say this was the hardest test he ever written?

did he? i think it’s implied. -_-

i think the multiple choice actually made it harder

i put 1…cuz it was as close to zero as i could get. doh.

lol thanks guys, i feel better knowing other people thought the exam was hard

^…
this is only like 4/5 students out of a class of 1000+… LOL not a good sample size
