err…anyone go to lecture this morning? can we pick it up? lmao. i slept in

i went. they basically had a bunch of GSIs handing them out at the end of lecture. i beyond bombed the multiple choice section.

Damn it. I don’t want to see my test yet. I expected a lower Mean, to be honest…

you can pick it up in afternoon lecture.

handing it out at the end of lecture? was it a huge crazy mess?

not really. but i got in there, got mine, and got out pretty quickly. people thought it would be right outside the room in dwinelle so they were huddling around, when really, it was outside the building. they separated it by last name, sort of like the testing locations.

well they hand it out on thursday? because i have lab today and won’t be able to make afternoon :(

so what was the sd.

frechet said he’ll post the statistics of it up on bspace really soon, but he said it was around mid-20s i think

btw can some of you guys take a look at my thread??? (related to Chem3AL)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-berkeley/694717-chem3al-lab-quiz-what-going.html

mid 20’s?.. hmm… if we’re 1 sd above the avg… is it at least a B? :|

dude 1 SD above avg is an A i think, congrats man.

man… hopefully. i studied like crazy for this midterm… = = meh. i shoulda done better though. im trying to raise my gpa… or else face with probation

putting this on page 7 so ppl will see…

i thought that whatever the average was, is right where C-/D+ would be. Then one SD above is a C, two is a B, and 3 is an A?

am i completely wrong? can someone explain to me how to figure it out?

if ur 1sd above the mean that means you scored better than. 84% of the people. if you scored 3 sd above the mean…that means like… you scored better than 99.7% of the people hhah…

[68-95-99.7 rule - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](68–95–99.7 rule - Wikipedia)

The average is where C+/B- is (since technically the tip of the bell curve, or average, should be “average” work= C ish). One standard deviation in this case would be approx. a letter grade up, so a standard deviation above the average would be an A-.

The average for MT1 was an 85 and standard deviation was 28 or so. Imagine if it took 3 SDs to get an A! As far as I know, Frechet does not give Extra Credit on his MTs :P.

But maybe you guys know something that I do not…

i got an 85 on first midterm… and maybe 1 sd above mean of this midterm… do i still have shot at an A!. i want an A. i still haven’t gotten an A in college yet.

ok i see. thanks for clearing that up for me!

@8888: i think you do but you need to score really well on the final, a very high A in my opinion.

flippen hell. i’m screwed. mid 20s 60s avg. … bah humbug. i only have 1 A in college and that was in a class where I knew most of the stuff going in. haha
