Chem 3A Phase I or Phase II?

So I've heard that we can sign up for just the lab without signing up for the lecture first. But the lab days and times aren't up on the online schedule yet as far as I can see.

Current enrollment as of 04/25/08 is:
Limit:523 Enrolled:37 Waitlist:0 Avail Seats:486

Looking at this, I'd want to wait until Phase II to add Chem 3A so I can make better use of the Phase I 10.5 limit since lab dates aren't posted yet. I'd like some confirmation on this and also, any comments on Professor Pedersen would be great. Ratemyprofessors has some pretty favorable reviews for him as well as Frechet of this semester. Wondering how they compare if anyone knows.

Thanks a lot! :)

Ah, something you might not have realized...
Chem 3A (Lecture) and Chem 3AL (Lab Lecture and Lab) are DIFFERENT classes.
Here's the link to the online schedule for Chem 3AL w/ times for all lab sections UCB Online Schedule of Classes: Search Results

It's only 2 units and labs fill up fast, so definitely sign up during Phase I. I'm taking chem 3a/3al this semester and the lab coordinator didn't allow people to switch lab sections.

Re: instructor
Frechet's a great guy, he knows that ochem is really hard so he tries to teach it to students as easy as possible. Curves are very fair and generous. Our recent test (Midterm II): 56/100 became a B- w/ a standard deviation of 20 points.

Wow, thank you so much! Saved me there.

My friends taking Chem 3A right now did tell me that they were different classes but I didn't think they'd be separately listed on the online schedule of classes.

Haha yeah, I do hear a lot about the midterm averages from floormates and such. I won't be taking the class with Frechet but ratemyprofessors at least makes Pedersen seem comparable.
