Chem 3B/3BL + MCB 102

Hi guys!

I wanted your opinion about summer school. I initially planned to only take Chem 3B+3BL this summer. However, after talking to a peer advisor at the SLC, he suggested I also take MCB 102 cause he said it was way easier that taking it during the year. (I looked on other threads about MCB 102 and people said exams were open book/open notes in the summer!)

The peer advisor did tell me Chem 3B/3BL + MCB 102 in the summer wasn't going to be easy and that I'll be studying almost 24/7 by doing this courseload.

The classes are in the same session.

I would only want to do this so that I can actually have a free summer before I graduate to do something besides classes, such as internships/jobs/research. I'm a little pressured for time because during first year, I didn't get to take ANY science prereqs. as an MCB major. (Btw hate telebears) If I don't do the two classes this summer, that means I'll be taking summer school every single summer to graduate in 4 years. I really don't want that to happen.

What should I do? Any advice?

Additional note: Regardless of what happens, I HAVE to take Chem 3B/3BL this summer.

What?? That sounds like a terrible idea, and I am saying this having taken Chem 3B/L over summer. Sure, MCB 102 may be /easier/ over summer, but that does NOT mean that taking Chem 3B + 3BL + MCB 102 is easy. If you’re worried about MCB 102, just take it with an easier course load that semester.

Why don’t you take chem and also start looking for a lab in the spring/early summer? I feel like that would be more manageable…
