<p>Is it suicidal to take BOTH Chem 3b/3BL with Bio 1A/1AL this fall? It's Vollhardt and Forte...</p>
<p>well there’s three teachers for Bio 1A. It’s not unheard of to take both, but you really gotta study your butt off, considering how Vollhardt teaches straight outta the book, meaning you have to read it (whereas Pederson does his own thing most of the time and you can just refer back to your own hopefully detailed notes instead of the book). Bio 1A is just a lot of memorizing and understanding concepts (aren’t all classes really?), but Bio 1AL might be the difference. That lab class is not worthy of 2 units. It’s difficult and is just additional memorization on top of the regular lecture (since the lab and class don’t cover the same stuff most of the time).</p>
<p>I wouldn’t recommend it. Both are very time consuming on their own. Taking them at the same time would pretty much consume your semester. But hey, some people can do it.</p>
<p>Do what I did and take Bio 1A/1AL in fall and Chem 3B/3BL in spring with Pedersen. Both together would be bad mostly because the labs are a lot of work and pain.</p>

<p>These will be the only two heavy courses I’m taking, since I’ll only be taking another 2-unit course(probably decal?) to fulfill the unit requirement.
Has anyone tried this before (taking both 1a/l and 3b/l)? Or does anyone know the outcome of this combination? </p>
