Hi, I'm a ChemE major and I needed to take my math and physics class because otherwise they would both be completely full and they filled up within a week of my Phase I. I checked the website and the lecture had a lot of spots available. With my lab slot at the 8 am being open, but then a couple of days ago I scrolled down and found out that every single lab was full even though there was still available spots.

So I'm wondering what are the chances of getting into Chem 4a if I would be the first one on the waitlist for the lab. If there is basically no chance of getting in, I would be a year behind. Soo would the best course of action be to just change majors? =/

typically about 10% of a section will drop, allowing in someone from teh waitlist. For the labs with 25 spots, that means 2-3 people will clear into the lab, although it could take up to 2-3 weeks after the start of the semester for the last to get in which might make it impractical. First on the waitlist is a good position, however, and the odds look good if you wait it out.

Just get on the waitlist for now. When term begins, CoC will have an orientation, and during it they’ll ask if anyone isn’t in 4A yet. If you’re still not in by them, go talk to the appropriate person, and they’ll make sure you’re in a lab section.

If you’re in the College of Chem, they will probably make sure you get into the class. Just waitlist and don’t worry.

1 on the waitlist is fine. Just make sure you signed up for the lab session you want.
