Chem 6a for little to no background in Chem?

Hi guys, so I was wondering if I should go ahead and take Chem 6A even though I don't remember ANYTHING from chem in high school. I've heard that Chem4 is ridiculously rudimentary, and I consider myself pretty strong academically. Would it be wise to go right into Chem 6A? Or is it absolutely necessary that I first take Chem 4. Any success stories? Thanks

I think you’ll be fine in Chem 6A. You go over the basics quickly and it will probably jog your memory.

i’ve got the same problem as you, i keep hearing that chem4 is incredibly simple as well (except for the lab write ups O.o) but then ive heard opposing statements about chem 6a. One person said that you get left behind quick if you didnt take chemistry recently, and other people say you go over basics first in there and that that’s enough to jog the memory.

Sorry i cant be of much help, but id appreciate if other people helped with this!

there are many survivors. Let’s just take it.

Whats the next step up? Would you only advise taking it unless i got a 5 on the AP?

huh? even a 4 on the AP gets you out of 6A.

but yeah, take 6A. only about 15% of freshmen take Chem 4, and while some were legit and came from high schools that lacked chemistry programs, I think too many people underestimate themselves and like the idea of an “easy A.” (heck, one kid even got a 4 on his AP exam- I wanted to kick him out)

yeah…I guess i’ll just suck it up and take 6A. I’d be off by a quarter anyway if I took Chem 4. I’m sure it wont be that terrible haha
