chem courses?

hi im an incoming freshman in A&S majoring in biological sciences.
I was wondering if someone could give me suggestions as to which chem courses I should take. regarding the ease of the class, premed requirements, etc. I would opt out of chem but i only received a 4 on the AP exam.

Chem 2070-2080 Prof:Crane/Loring

or

Chem 2150-2160 Prof: Floyd

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Chem 207-208 is easier and more useful.

Nothing on Chem 216 appears on the MCAT so you'd be wasting your time. Chem 215-216 is designed for chem majors who scored a 5 on the AP exam.

thanks! another question: do you know what bio courses first yrs usually take if they choose to use their AP biology credit?
also would not taking intro bio really hurt my chances at med school?

Not taking intro bio won't hurt your chances.

I recommend taking evolutionary bio and/or Bio 290 Microbio since I think they're not very work-intensive.

ive decided to go with ur suggestion and take microbio! it seems really interesting! =)
would u recommend taking BIOMI 2911(intro microbio lab) along with bio 290?
the prof for the lab is merkel. i checked her out on ratemyprofessor.com...some really liked her and some didnt so im not sure.

It's your call. I don't know what bio concentration you plan to sign up for. It is possible that the lab will be required. It wasn't required for my concentration (molecular cell bio) so I didn't take the lab.

Also, evol. bio is required for all bio majors while microbio is not. So, be sure to check if it will be required for any potential concentrations you might want to major in. If not, you might take microbio for nothing. Although I still think it's the easiest course offered by the bio department so it's a grade booster if nothing else.

Microbio lab is great...especially if you get good lab instructor and TA. I felt it was lot of work for 2 credits...but an easy A. If you have time to take both lecture and lab I would do it...the material from each class complements the other well.
