Hey just wondering..I was looking to sign up for Chem 2070 today but the problem is that all the time slots for the lab are locked out. Is there any possibility that spaces for these labs open up as the school year comes to a start, or do I have no shot of getting in :(

Am I supposed to just sit and keep refreshing the page

No, it was a few days ago but I changed my mind now and instead of deferring Chemistry I heard it’s better otherwise to take it freshman year and take other Chem courses earlier to prepare you for MCATs :(

It’s too late then, for now. Wait until formal add/drop which is shortly before classes start. Hopefully, people will drop the class then, or within the first week of classes, and you can add it.

I would go to Baker Labs and talk with someone in the chem office (the big building on top of the hill beside all the construction, it might be done by now). Or, I would e-mail the chem office. Most likely they’ll put your name on a waitlist for your desired lab spot and then you just have to show up to lab at that time and wait and see if the instructor will let you in. This is how it was done when I was taking chem labs a couple of years ago, it might’ve changed, but I doubt it. One word of advice, be extremely nice to the chem department because the professors love making life difficult for you.

yep, ive never known a person to not get “accepted” into a lab section. freshman year this happened to me a lot of others and the chem staff (Pat Hines) assured me that there will be an open spot. classes like chem 207 have a lof of ppl dropping out in the first few weeks.

^Yeah general and orgo labs take almost every single person off the waitlists. It happened to me and I got in, don’t stress about it. Just be prepared to go to Baker in person and sign up
