Chem Question

OK, so I got owned on the Barron's Chem practice test.

One of the questions asked why CaCl2 is in this laboratory setup, and apparently it was to absorb water...

Another asked what a setup may be used to collect-NH3, NO, H2, SO3, or CO2. Apparently it's CO2 because the others are either lighter than air, need heat to be produced, or oxidizes instantly in the air...

Question is, do I need to really know these for the Chem SATII?
The PR and Kaplan books didn't have anything about the properties of common gases, and both really just skimmed through laboratory. Now I'm scared that I'll run into a 3 part laboratory question and just bomb it all:(

I don't think I had anything that tricky on my chem test......

I think you should make sure you understand the concept behind it. That seems like a lot of work to do for just two questions.

You will never see questions like that on the SAT II.

Ditch Barrons and stick with PR.
