This year I took AP chem, and last year I took honors chem. After AP chem, I decided to take the chem SAT Subject test, and I found out today that I got a 660 on it. I also got a 3 on the ap exam, and will not be sending that score to colleges so its not like that will help to redeem myself. I thought I did better on the chem SAT, and I can do way better if I retake it. I have to send the 660 to cornell because they require all sat and subject test scores. If I retake the exam and do better, will the 660 hurt my chances at getting into Cornell since I took it after 2 years of chem,
They say they consider the highest scores so if you got over a 700 on the next one, the 660 shouldn’t hurt you.
Depending on what Cornell college you’re applying to, you might not even need to send SAT IIs. That being said, a 700+ score is considered competitive for Cornell. Like @Renomamma says, if you retake and do better, it’s fine. Colleges like to see progress.
Definitely study hard and retake if you’re applying to the College of Engineering. I had a 700 in Chem, 770 in Bio - Molecular, and 800 in Math 2 and still was roughly average for COE in that regard. Don’t apply to COE with less than 700 on your Subject Tests if you want to really be competitive
