Chem Subject Test

I only plan on taking honors chem, not AP chem. Will honors chem be enough prep for the chem subject test?

subject tests aren't meant for AP level students, so you'll be fine with the SAT II.

I only took honors and i was pretty satisfied with my score. I bought 5 test books: barrons, princeton, rea, mcgraw, and kaplan. and got 740. I think it's sufficient.

Make sure that regardless of the course you take, you practice a lot of questions involving numbers (calculations). I took Honors Chem I, Honors Chem II, and AP Chem, and got a 710 ( I know, I know, you're thinking I must be a terrible student, but I'm not) only because there were so many calculation problems (and I'm awful at mental math). But if you're a natural science-y person, you should be fine, though AP Chem will prepare you best.

I disagree, hoogli. I took both AP Chem and AP US History and both SAT IIs this year, and found them pretty comparable. The SAT IIs were slightly easier, but had a lot of similar questions to the AP exams.

^
Honors chem I, honors CHem II and AP Chem :O. Your school offers 3 years of chemistry?

Honors chem is generally not good enough for the SAT II if you're aiming very high. It is doable, but I'd recommend taking the SAT II after you've done AP Chem. It will make the SAT II seem like a breeze.

My school offers regular Chem, Honors Chem, and AP Chem.

it depends on how good your school is.........i'm sure that at some schools, the regular chemistry class is as good (or better) than my school's AP chem. class..(yes, my school is horrible).

Yeah . . . my school offers Regular Chem, Honors Chem, and AP Chem. However, this year (because of historically low pass rates at our school in the subject I think, haha) my school decided to put AP Chem in the block period all year long, so we would essentially get two Chem credits that year (one first semester, one second semester), and they called first sem. Honors Chem II and second sem. AP Chem. You have to take Honors Chem I before you take AP Chem, so I ended up with 3 different Chem credits in 2 yrs. And I still ended up with a 710 (and a 4 on the AP test, btw).
