Chem v. Bio - Which is easier to score 800?

My question is self-explanatory
coming from someone who is probably equally okay at conceptual stuff and memorization.
thanks so much :)

CHEM.
800 for bio is ~98 percentile, 800 for chem is ~92 percentile. The figures speak for themselves.

BIOLOGY.

^^ the statistics above said it. furthermore, the curve for biology is much better than the chem one

^ The statistics above DISAGREE with your statement…

ok, mistake :D

but the questions is kind of naive. how can you compare 2 different subjects? just take both exams and hope for high scores

The question is not naive. The statistic suggests that it is easier to score an 800 on the chemistry test. At the very least, the statistic indicates that more people score an 800 on the chemistry test.

thanks for your input everyone!

Hey,
I’ve gotten 800 on both of these subjects and it really depends. I think they both are around the same if you just grab barrons and flip through it before the test. However Id say that bio is just a little bit harder because they kinda throw some random questions at you (especially if you take e).

Lol chem had a few random questions in May too I think.

Galvanizing steel, component of glass, etc. Most of the chem practice tests I looked through had some random descriptive chemistry questions…those can get you if you’re not prepared for them (colors of flames, important compounds).

I got a 790 in May due to missing the question about galvanizing steel :<

No idea about bio, as I haven’t taken it.

Short answer: Chem.

Real answer: whichever one will be easiest for you. Which class did you take most recently?

<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools;

Link to percentile rankings. Physics is 92, not Chemistry. Chem is 95.

Huh strange. I heard Chem was very difficult.

I don’t think percentiles necessarily equate to the difficulty of the test.

I found that it was okay. However, alot of people think the test format is tricky (especially the TTCE part). It’s not bad if you familiarize yourself with it.

What’s TTCE? I’m probably going to back out of taking chem b/c I’m sick of chem. AP was a beast and now I’m ready to not touch chem until next year (organic eww…)

Anyway, Bio is a very easy subject. The general consensus from many people I know, not just my opinion.

TTCE is formatted like this…

[Statement 1] is true because of [Statement 2]

And you have to fill in three circles T/F, T/F, CE (correct explanation).

If you do take it, it’s a good idea to separate it like this.

Evaluate truth of statement 1, and bubble T/F
Evaluate truth of statement 2, and bubble T/F
Read them together if both are true. If it makes sense, bubble CE.

I have to admit, the section annoyed me a little because it takes up a good chunk of time. And, if you get one part wrong, the whole answer is wrong.

If you get used to it, it’s really not a bad test though. I took AP chem this year and took two practice subject tests and got a 790, even though I made a couple of stupid mistakes.

Edit: By the way, the SAT chem doesn’t have any of that organic compound naming stuff.

I don’t think I have enough time for a weird test format like that. So I’m switching tests on the 6th. Going with Bio still though.

Chemistry is definitely easier. If you understand the concepts, you’re good to go. Biology is mainly memorization and doesn’t really involve concepts, so chances are you won’t be able to answer everything on the test.

Chem, for sure. Only got a 780 on it but did FAR better on Chem than on Bio.

So weird, Bio is easy!!

It’s completely subjective.

STATISTICALLY, the chem test is ‘easier’ because more people score 800 on it than on the bio test.

However, if you’re good at bio, you’re going to do better on bio (and likewise if you’re better at chemistry). It depends on the individual.

I personally think that the chem SAT II is a complete joke… I haven’t taken it yet but it seems 10x easier than the AP test and my teacher prepared me well for it. However, I don’t know a damn thing about bio.
