Hey guys, I'm in a very frustrating situation right now. I got a 5 on my ap chem test, exempting me from chem6a-6c. However, I'm planning on going on the pre med track, so i need a year of general chem. I do not want to take chem 6ah since I've been told it is extremely difficult and a GPA killer. Plus, i took ap chem 2 years back so there is no way i can remember the information. So, i decided to take the 6a-c series for no credit, just to fulfill the pre med requirements. I spoke to some advisors about this and they all said that this was not recommended as med schools do not honor repeated credits. i was hoping to get some opinions and advice from people who have gone though this or have any knowledge of this. Thanks!

I don’t feel like this is correct and I’m expecting astrina to come in here and tell you the same thing.

i hoping she graces my post with her presence.

Why don’t you ask on the pre-med forum?

waves hi

Everyone’s right … including your clueless counselors, in a way. You’re not repeating the credits for 6ABC because you’re not getting ANY credit. Obviously registering for the class will count towards your allotted number of registration units, because you’re occupying a seat and somebody else can’t. But on your final transcript, you’ll have a grade and 0.0 credits assigned to the course, meaning that the grade doesn’t affect your GPA. The grade alone is perfectly sufficient for med school applications.

@astrina: you’re a godsend. thanks:)

@twylaboo: i wasn’t aware there was one ahah
