ChemBE Johns Hopkins vs UC Schools vs Wait-listed at Princeton and Dartmouth

I want to become a doctor, thus i need to be in the premed pathway. But i heard rumors that jhu is extremely difficult and it will be easier to have a higher gpa in uc schools or even ivies than in jhu. If I enroll to Hopkins I will major in Chemical & Bio-molecular Engineering. What do you recommend me to do? Should I just go to UCLA or Berkeley? Or change majors?

Yes, JHU is crazy hard. It will be very challenging especially in the pre-med landscape. However, it resources and opportunities for pre-meds are amazing. It is a fantastic school for pre-meds, but the difficulty is real. Visit JHU and search their board and talk to some people who are pre-meds. Also, Berkeley is quite difficult as well, and UCLA is also a very competitive school. If you can feel you can handle JHU, pick whichever school you have have a better vibe with, UCLA is a typical Cali school and then JHU and Berkeley have East and West feels, respectively.

Pre med at each of these schools will be equally challenging. Don’t base your decision on rumours or hearsay. Go 1) where you get the best aid and 2) where you will feel more comfortable - you are going to want the least amount of stress (financially and socially) as possible as you navigate your way through pre-med curriculum. Oh and it’s collge have a little fun too ;-)
