Hello All,

The feed back from this site has been great and I really appreciate all of the help from responses in other threads. I have recently decided to switch my focus on pre-med to picking up an economics double major with chem engineering. I decided that I did not truly want the extra years of schooling and would like more freedom in my future career path. I have a few questions about this decision:

1) What are some possible career paths for me when I graduate in two (maybe 3) years?

2) I currently would like to be a liaison between a design team and the business executives by utilizing my understanding of both aspects of a company.

3) I am thinking about working for GE Medical this summer as an intern in sales and then doing a co-op for a more engineering focused background. Does anyone have any recommendations for good ChemE co-ops?

4) Would an MBA (probably in finance) after 4-6 years of experience significantly increase my pay/chance of promotion? Are my current grades competitive for the top MBA programs? Where to apply? Any idea on what type of salary I could get?

5) Would the double major and MBA provide a strong enough background for me to eventually start my own company?

Background Information: Junior at UW Madison, 3.6 GPA, 3 semesters of biofuel research, currently working at an ophthalmology research center (good pay easy job).

Suggestions and help with any of these questions is greatly appreciated!
