I can go into a program where I get a BA in Engineering Science from a liberal arts school and a BS in Chemical Engineering from a tech school. I also wanted to get a BS in mathematics from the liberal arts school since there are a lot of classes already covered by the engineering science degree. Good idea?

You want THREE degrees? If so, that’s a terrible idea and a waste of time. Pick one (BS in math or ChemE) and stick to it.

I can get all of them in 4 years. The BA in engineering science by what I have seen does really nothing for you. So I figured adding only a few extra courses for a BS in mathematics would be a good idea. This is a 3+2 program by the way. AP credit and everything will allow me to do it in 4 years.

Do you want the 3-2 program? Why not try to graduate early with the BS ChemE at the tech school? And perhaps get an MS afterwards if you can and wish to do so? Or just spend 4 years at the tech school taking extra courses that you like?

I would like the BS in Mathematics in case I decided that I wanted to teach Math later on… that’s the main reason for it.

I don’t think you’ll be able to teach many places with just a BS in math anymore…

Ok, well will the BS in math improve a BS in chemical engineering. Won’t it open a few more opportunities…

No, not really. If your goal is to work as an engineer having the math degree won’t help much. Also, sometimes it can be difficult to get multiple majors because you’re not allowed to use certain classes for more than one major - ask your school about this.

Thanks PurdueEE. That’s what I was going to do. The school would probably be best to talk to. But does anyone know anything about the degree BA in Engineering Science??
