ChemE job opportunities

I've heard on multiple occasions that the only way for Chemical Engineers to get any solid work is for them to live in certain areas. Is this true? If one doesn't live in Houston or Alaska, is it generally hard to find work as a Chemical Engineer?

I live in Ohio, and was planning on majoring in ChemE. Would I be setting myself up for unemployment?

I'm pretty sure you can find a job in Ohio because ChemEs can literally work in any manufacturing industry.

While the oil industry is scooping up as man ChemEs and any other engineers for that matter, you shouldn't have a problem finding a job--as long as you remain competitive.
