I m a freshman at USC and a ChemE major. Organic Chemistry is one my required classes but I was wanting to take it at community college over the summer. I was just wondering, if I were to go to grad school, would it hurt my chances of getting into a good school seeing that OChem is one of the most difficult courses in undergrad. I wouldn t want admissions to think I was trying to get out easy. Can anyone help?
As long as the rest of your grades are fine, then you shouldn’t worry about it. Heck, I’ve even read that some schools don’t even bother looking at your transcript as long as your GPA and GRE score is high enough.
If it is graduate school in ChemE then they will care primarily about your upper division ChemE courses, not Sophomore level OChem.
