Chemical Engineering Questions

So is it possible to break into the automotive industry as a ChemE?

I am interested in engines, alternative fuels(getting the car to run on it), and on how to make cars safer/better etc.

So I am wondering if I should keep on with my ChemE major or just switch on to MechE? maybe even Materials Engineering for car materials?

If it helps, I am also interested in other vehicles such as helicopters, etc working on those.

Thanks!

Yes it is very much likely that you can get into the automotive industry with a ChemE degree. I saw some openings and positions at Tesla in their battery sector for ChemE’s and I currently know one ChemE working at a very large car company here in the U.S. (Toyota).
