I'm an incoming freshman in the College of Chem., prospective ChemEng major. Going through the "Phase II" thing and scheduling, i'm started to realize that scheduling for spring might be a problem.

Are there any upperclassmen ChemE's that would have any advice on what to get first during Phase I for my spring freshman semester? I'm taking Chem 4B, Math 54, Physics 7A, and hopefully ESPM 50AC. Which would be the better decision to get first, cuz i know all the classes fill up fast. Any advice would be of most help.

From what I’ve heard, Math 54 is probably the safest of the four classes you’ve listed, so I would suggest picking that up during Phase II. The other three could cause a problem during Phase II, but it looks like Chem 4B and Physics 7A are important for your major, so wouldn’t it be a bad idea to get behind on those? I would pick those two during phase I for that reason. But I’m just an incoming freshman so feel free to ignore me.

You’ll be more or less forced to sign up for Chem 4B and Physics 7A in your Phase I because everyone else in CoC is doing that. You ChemE’s don’t have much choice for the next 2~3 years :P

I was under the impression that 4B was a Phase 1 choice because it upped the chances of a good lab section, and that the class was pretty much guaranteed to have enough slots to fit everyone in…but I could be wrong. Then again, the 4 series, you REALLY want a lab section that fits with your usual pattern of work, so…

If you can’t shift 7A to later on, Phase 1 for sure.
