<p>Yes , if you go into something from chemical engineering that is related to medicine (eg pharmaceutical chemicals, tissue engineering ,polymers ,biomaterials) I know one engineer who teaches biomaterials that had a PHD in polymer chemistry so it is not unheard of.
Work it into your SOP and relevant research is a plus.</p>

SOP (statement of purpose) when applying to grad school you usually write it to tell them what you want to do.</p>
