Chemical Engineering vs Chemistry

Hi, I'm part of the class of 2013 and am deciding between BSE and AB (chemical engineering and chemistry). I've always wanted to be a pediatrician. However I felt that if for some reason I decided medicine was not for me, majoring in chemical engineering would be a great "backup" and more practical, compared to chemistry.
Can someone tell me more about the chemistry and chemical engineering departments?
I'm wondering, is it worth it to major in chemical engineering, assuming I'm going to go to medical school? I heard engineers-required physics 103/104 was killer compared to physics 101/102. Also which doctor really needs all the math that is required in BSE? I'm not even really sure if I like physics and math that much! High school is definitely going to be a lot different from Princeton classes. If I could take physics 101 this fall, I would, but then that doesn't fulfill the BSE requirement.

Sorry, I think what I just typed is kind of unclear. I'm just pretty confused...haha

Thanks!

I started out BSE chemE and dropped to an AB humanities major pretty quickly. Both the chemE reps and the premed advising people (hpa - health professions advising) will tell you that you’re going to hate life if you are both premed AND an engineer at princeton. GPA is just too important for premeds, and it’s MUCH harder to keep a high GPA as an engineer than as a humanities major. You can always switch back in to BSE if your decide to drop premed (or the reverse). But I will say this, if you can already say that you’re not sure you love math and physics that much, DO NOT BE AN ENGINEER!! =) You will hate life.

I am a Princeton Grad and their ChE department is awesome. It is smaller than chemistry so you will get to know people. It is a great background for doing nearly anything.

It is a very intense major but if you know that going in It can be very rewarding. It may be too heavy for a premed.

Good luck.
