Chemical Engineering

To start off, I am 17 and will be a senior in the Fall. I currently live in Pennsylvania and attend a pretty good high school here(92%+ is an A-, most other schools are much easier around this area, but probably not that great compared to schools around the country). I will provide my grades/SAT at the end here.

Anyways, I will most likely(like 99%) be moving to California once I graduate here. I became interested in Chemical Engineering last year since I found chemistry really interesting. I took Chemistry AP this year and am still interested.

Now I have been researching universities in CA and have looked at the obvious ones like Berkeley. But I really don't think I am good enough for that right out of high school.

Anyways here is my GPA and SAT score(s)

GPA unweighted ~3.8(10th and 11th grade only, not sure if this is 100% correct)
GPA weighted ~3.9 (Includes 9th as well, if I didn't include 9th I think I would probably be right around 4 or very close)
I am in the top 7% of my grade as of December(Only see the percentile after midterms for some reason)

SAT - 1700, the site is down right now but I remember my reading and math were around 630, while my writing was just awful. Going to retake in the fall and try for 1900 or better.

I didn't really do much EC, I did rifle team last year and got a letter since I was one of the best on the team.

Anyways, based on this which college in CA would be good/achievable for me? And is there a possibility that I could go to a college and then transfer to Berkeley?

I believe I will be living in Sunnyvale, but I am fine with living at the college.

Thanks!

Anyone?

By the way, I got a 5 on the Chemistry AP exam.

Absolutely, go to a California CC and then transfer to Berkeley or UCLA. As long as you do well, they both have a really great transfer program.

[Transfer Admission Guide - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_tr/tradms.htm)

Can I apply to CC’s even though I won’t live there until next year? The problem is that I can’t really go see these places before I apply(deadlines are like end of November, and there is no real break from school in between).

Are there any “regular” colleges that aren’t too expensive/difficult to get into that would still make it easy to transfer to UCB? I read somewhere the CSU schools make it a bit difficult to transfer to UC schools.

I’m not from the US, so sorry for my ignorance/stupidity with colleges :D
