Chemistry 3AL Prelabs

What exactly is the pre-lab?
Is it just writing down the purpose, names of reagents, procedure, etc?

Or are there questions we are supposed to answer? If so, where are these questions?

The pre-lab is basically the pre-lab checklist on the first page of the experiment. The experiments are in the back of the lab manual. For this week's lab we had to write out all the molecules' names, structures, formula, and mass. Also to write out predictions for each 7 parts.

I think I heard my GSI mumbling to someone that there was actually more stuff to do than what's on that list, but that he wasn't going to mark us down because it wasn't obvious...something like that. I'm not sure.

I had lab today. We had to write out all 17 reagents, their structures, molecular formulas, molecular weight, their physical properties: boiling point, melting point, density. We also had to predict whether each part of the experiment was a change in intermolecular forces or a reaction. I also wrote out the procedures for the experiment, but I think that was unnecessary.

I pretty much used google + logical bs-ing ability for my pre-lab when I took the class.....lol

Yeah, I just had lab today too. I think my gsi was happy as long as we had the structures and predictions/reactions. I think the lab manual is crazy in what it wants us to do. Seriously...calculating millimoles and stuff? Not fun. I think I gave up in the end when I was doing my prelab as it was taking WAY too much time. Turns out I could have done EVEN less and still get credit. Well, at least I know now.
