Chemistry/Biochemistry Majors at UCSB??

I'm a junior right now and I pretty much have an idea of which colleges I'm applying to: UCLA, USC, UCSB, UCI, UCSC, USF, and Cal Poly SLO.

Despite the fact that UCLA and USC would be the "obvious" choices for Chemistry or Biochemistry, I'm really interested in UCSB. Maybe it's the beautiful campus or just the student vibe in general. But I'm wondering...how good is the chemistry department at UCSB because I would like to participate in a lot of undergraduate research and hopefully go to graduate school.

Anyone's opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I’m a biology major, so I’m taking, and will have to take a fair amount of chemistry, and some biochemistry. Overall I have been impressed with the chemistry department. For general chemistry (first series), I’ve had great professors that are always willing and available to help. The chemistry lab TAs are also usually pretty good and helpful. UCSB is a beautiful place with a great vibe, and is giving me a great education.

Thank you so much! I really hope I get accepted into UCSB next year!
