so now that we're done does anyone know what is needed for a 5,4,3?

And how do you calculate the points?

so now that we're done does anyone know what is needed for a 5,4,3?

And how do you calculate the points?

2002 you needed 107/160 for a 5.
This year the test is easier and the curve will definately go up.
I'd guess 112?

MC is worth 45% = 0.96 x (#correct - 0.25x#wrong)
FR is worth 55% = about 1.7 x # of points....roughly

ahhhhh!!!! no, curve, dont go up

It's been as high as 125 before, right?

Also, MC can't be below zero. (If somehow you got more than four times as many wrong as you did right, they'll take pity and cap it off at a zero before letting you go into the negatives on MC)

everyone thinks the test was a joke this year, im thinkin that will probably destroy the curve, but we'll see

Has it? I have no idea...
In the 80s it was in the low 90s so its definately going up.

anyone know what it was last year?

i dont think it will go up that much..you have to rmember the ppl on cc who are saying it was really easy would still think it was easy no matter how hard it was

the rest of the population though probbly thought it was hard

But most people here don't just think it's easy, they ALSO think it's easier than practice APs and previous released tests.

60% on the multiple choice is a 3, 70% is a 4, and 90% is a 5; don't expect a curve! :-D

i'll personally be disappointed w/ anything lower than a 3

soulstealer07... you're way off. 90%+ is not a 5. chem is also known for having the least percent for geting a 5. a 5 is probably 70%+

if you can get like 60-70% of the points on the test u get a 5 right??

uh...
NO!
have you looked at college board? 70% is academic probation in college. why would it be a 70% 5 on the AP exam. the AP courses are college level work.

But hey, I'll look up the place on collegeboard and paste the site. If I am wrong--sorry!
If I am right...well, we'll see.

yea i think you're wrong..on my mock AP exam people could get less than 70% and get a 5. (on the MC)

this site helps, but it doesn't give me the answer I'm looking for.

Quote: "yea i think you're wrong..on my mock AP exam people could get less than 70% and get a 5. (on the MC)"

you mentioned on the multiple choice...not on the entire test. remember, 55% of the test is free responce

You may be very surprised to see that your composite score can be approximately two-thirds of the total possible score and you could still earn a grade of 5! Earning that score on other exams might translate to an "F" at worst and a "D" at best.

Right from the link you pasted, soulstealer07.

alright, i guess i was wrong--my bad everybody!

soulstealer i dont know what your talking about but for the AP you dont need freaking 90 percent to get a 5, usually for chem its betweeen 65-75 percent to get a 5. This test is not meant to be easy. It is meant for people to NOT do well. Just cause its college level doesnt mean that you have to do amazingly well.

well, I've seen a lot of cases in the past where "easy" tests were supposed to "destroy" the curve, and it maybe changed by 4-6 points...
