Chemistry Curve

MC: it was okay, slightly easy, I think I got 80% of them right, i left 6 blank.

Free Resposne: Reactions were easy, #1, #3, #7 were all easy, i think I got 100% on that. #5 and #6 were hard, probably got half credit.

Any ideas on my score?

all friend of mine said it was easy, but they usually got failed grades on our Chem tests, so guys, you could predict how the curve would be!

and isnt the curve based on last year?

my teacher told us that we only need to get 62.5% of the test right to get a 5, 51% to get a 4, and only 36% right to get a 3. it's really not that much.

waiting... thats what my teacher told me to and to jason.... if what you said is true you'll get a 5 no doubt. i'm feelin a 3 on the test, i thought the mc was harddd but the free response wasnt to bad. Probably got 30 percent on the MC and around 60-70 percent on the free response.

Wait guys... i doubt they eased the test up only this year.. they probably did it last year too and there was no big curve..

A lot of people in my class thought the test was very hard.

Just one question:
Why are you all talking about a curve already?! It's only been a day after the test. Rumors like this spread like wildfire online, which leads to someone getting in trouble. And to top it all off, there might not be a curve this year! :(

soulstealer, you need to stop opening your mouth and saying dumb things that you know nothing about. first of all, it was ludicrous for you to say that you need 90% on the test to get a 5. second, your last comment on there possibly not being a curve this year is equally moronic. think about it...there are very poorly educated kids throughout the nation in poverty-stricken areas who take this test. also, the great majority of students taking this test are simply not as hard-working as CC forum people (they have other interests or are just not motivated). put it all together and what do you have? a HUGE curve EVERY year. there has NEVER been an AP test without a curve...now, hopefully, you know why the things you said were so ridiculous.

Zelda55:wow-temper, temper...

and i already apologized about the scores issue.
you must understand something though. There are people in the country who don't come to this site to discuss how they did, and they know that they did very well. personally, i think the multiple choice was very easy this year. i have a shot at a 4, and i am not counting it out until i get my results back. free response was easy too (for questions 1-7)...even if i ran out of time. the majority of the people in the country have to do so horribly on the exam for the scores to get curved. thats all i was trying to say.

soulstealer, theres always a curve every year on every test...

Its usually somewhere from 105-110 for a 5

and all i meant is that most of this country's students are not as smart as you or the other people on CC. trust me on this one...it's not even close. that's why the national average on some of the easy FRQ is like 3/9.

Yep Zelda55 is right. On the AP Latin Lit free response, national average was around one to two points out of 9 ( i think..or maybe 10)

For those of you who said their teachers said you only needed a 62.5% right for a 5, do you guys know where they got that info from? Are your teachers experienced? Cause my teacher said you needed 85% for a 5 which I quickly assumed was wrong. Not to mention this is her first yr teaching ap chem.

85% is definately too high.

try 65-70%

in the 2006-2007 edition of priceton review it says if u r answering on the mc 1 in 5 u will get a three 2 in 5 a 4 and 3 in 5 a 5 so there u go. the ap chem curve is extremely generous.

That seems too good to be true.

i wouldn't doubt it.... a lot of non CC-type people take the AP Chem test...... and supplement our good scores w/ their crappy ones..... wee.

yeah the chem curve is definitely better than a lot of other curves...I wouldn't worry about it too much; again, nothing you can do to change your test now.

also: all that stuff about CB "not curving" it is nonsense. that's how it's scored! they scale it and find percentiles! stop talking, soulstealer. you can't "not" curve it. gah!
