Chemistry exam for 2080

I'm an incoming freshman and I got a 5 on the AP chem exam which seems to earn me four credits and placement out of 2070. I need 6 credits of chemistry for my major however and so at first I thought I would have to wait and take general chem 2080 in the spring but when i read the course description it said "Students who have advanced placement credit for CHEM 2070 or CHEM 2090 may also receive credit for Chem 2080 by demonstrating competence on the departmental examination given at Cornell before classes start in the fall."
So basically I assume this means that there is an exam specifically for people who have taken the AP but want even more credit/placement than that offers. If so, how is the exam? Is it much above AP level? Should I just review my AP stuff or something more? Any help is appreciated

The exam is tough. Depending on you major if you have to take chemistry classes down the road e.g. 3570 or 3580 I would rather take the class and get used to Cornell way of doing Chemistry classes.

well see that’s the whole thing. If I take this thing and pass it then I WON’T have to take any chem classes. If I don’t then this should be the only one I have to take. You say it’s hard but is it at least passable?

about 30% pass rate over time, unofficially. get the text book and study hard. Do this only if you don’t have any other chemistry classes after this.
