chemistry help

please verify that the following equation is balanced correctly. please show all steps. my teacher and i are unsure of the correct answer.

initially you are given Cr2O72- + S2- + _ --> Cr3+ + S + __

i had: Cr2O72- + 3S2- + 14H+ --> 2Cr3+ + 3S + 7H2O.

my teacher claims that all of the coefficients are supposed to be doubled. The answer key has the same answer that I have provided above.

You are correct and your teacher is incorrect. All the atoms and charges are balanced. I triple-checked:) did your teacher say why you’re supposed to double all of it?

^ Wholly agree

We did an equation very similar to this(had the dichromate ion) last night at our Net-Ionic Night study session(100% of the class and the teacher was there) and I’m sure that’s the correct answer. Doubling them all is incorrect, that’s like saying 2H+ + 2OH- –> 2H20 is correct.

why we’re on the subject, does anyone have any predictions for what the net-ionics will be on the AP?
