Got accepted to both berkeley and ucla as transfer student majoring in chem. don't know which to choose. I know chem in berkeley is the NO. 1 in nation so it is going to be super hard. UCLA is around 15. Although I have 4.0 in cc, I am afraid i cannot survive (good GPA) in berkeley. Since i want to go to pharmacy school, i hear they care more about GPA and experience than major and school. There is difference between 3.5 in berkeley and cal state, but there is not that much difference between 3.5 in UCLA and UC berkeley. To spend a lot of time on study to maintain just gpa in berkeley, or to spend this time to do something like volunteer or research in UCLA??

Both UCLA and Cal are rigorous. You can’t say for sure that UCLA will be easier than Berkeley (it’s time to debunk that myth, honestly).

If you got into Berkeley, you can handle Berkeley! Best of luck in deciding.

Your question is more about the schools than transferring, so you might want to also post your question on other forums such as College Search and Selection or PrePharm/Pharmacy.

I’m going to have to agree with @ocnative here.

UCLA and Berkeley, in all likelihood, don’t differ much in the rigor of their undergraduate chemistry classes. It’s also worth noting that the rankings you cite don’t reflect the difficulty of the undergraduate programs of the schools in those rankings. It’s worth nothing that grade inflation is rampant at schools such as the ivy leagues which are generally highly ranked in chemistry and other academic disciplines.
