Chemistry Major UCLA, UCSB (College of Creative Studies) or Georgia Tech?

It looks like D will probably be deciding between UCLA (Chemistry), UCSB (College of Creative studies for Chemistry/BioChem) and Georgia Tech (Chemistry).

We’re in state in CA but got a nice scholarship at Georgia Tech which makes all the costs affordable.

The package at GT is really nice and they have definitely expressed a lot of interest in her which feels good.

She really likes UCLA but wonders about getting research opportunities early on and being a little fish in a big pond.

CCS at UCSB is such a unique niche program. It seems like a really good opportunity to start research very early and she would also be able to forgo taking some lower division classes.

Any thoughts about pros and cons for these three schools for Chemistry would be appreciated. She’s specifically thinking about:
•the availability for early research opportunities @ UCLA (she knows this will happen at UCSB and GT)
•putting her in the best position when applying for PhD programs or med school

Oh, and as far as the social aspects, location, etc she feels good about all three schools. She really just wants opinions on which would be best (if one actually would be) for a Chem major.

Thanks!

I don’t have any personal experience but I have heard great things about UCSB’s CCS program.

thanks for any thoughts
