Hello! I’m a junior and my freshman and sophomore year’a were filled with confusing times where I didn’t know who I was. Fast forward to junior year I find Math and Science. My school doesn’t offer AP chemistry because I would be in it if they did. I have fallen in love with chemistry and mathematics and would LOVE to give the local Chemistry Olympiad test a try. My goal would be to study my butt off to get to take the National Test. Problem is… we don’t have AP chemistry. The book we use in the general Chem course is Sarquis | Modern Chemistry. Will this textbook be enough? What books should I get? I’m looking for a fun challenge for myself and kind of do something different. So let’s talk about the best books for the Olympiad.
@CuriousCoupler - search the forums for USNCO. There are some very good suggestions. I did not use any books, so I am unable to suggest. I made it to Nationals. But then, I did IB Chem.
Thanks! Yeah, I’m only in general high school Chemistry and it’s a drag because of how easy it is! My school doesn’t offer an honors, AP, or IB Chem class, sadly.
