<p>I'm taking Chem 1A this fall and Chem 1B and 1C the following quarters. I looked at what textbooks I need and the "Chem Package" is pretty pricey and I was kind of hoping it either included the lab fee or is used for the rest of the quarters too...</p>
<p>If it's not the lab fee, what IS the lab fee? And will I have to pay $140 for said package every quarter I take Chem????</p>
<p>The package includes the text book, a solution guide and a study guide. these can be used for the whole Chem 1A-B-C series. Then, you will need to purchase a lab manual which will be used for the whole series too. You will also need to buy lab goggles and a lab notebook. In addition, a lab fee will be charged to your BARC account each quarter. </p>
<p>So to answer your question you only buy the package once and pay the lab fee every quarter.</p>

<p>i'm not sure what the lab fee is but you could ask you ta on the first day of lab. i think it is about 35-45 dollars.</p>

<p>i have a few more questions: do we need our textbooks by the first day of class? also, i'm taking chem 1A plus lab, and i was wondering, will we need to have the lab manual, lab notebook, and lab goggles by the first day of class? oh yeah and is there a special lab notebook that we need? or do we just use a regular spiral bound notebook?</p>

<p>And I'm curious about your chem questions as well, although I don't think we would need everything the first day of lab. But then again, we only get 10 labs...</p>

<p>Also, can we get the necessary lab supplies at the bookstore? I didn't see any goggles or lab books online at ucsbstuff. If not at school, where can they be purchased?</p>
<p>It would be good to have all the supplies for lab on the first day of lab because you will take a lab safety quiz that is in the last page of your lab manual. i think you even do a lab on the first day, but i can't really remember. if you can't get the lab manual or the other stuff by the first day of lab, don't worry about it because it is just the first day and your TA will understand. Everything you need for lab can be found in the bookstore. I don't think you can buy the lab manual, lab notebook or goggles online. the bookstore is in the UCen so you can just go there during the days before class since you won't start class until Thursday and you will move in Saturday or Sunday. The lab notebook has carbon-copy pages so it is different than a regular notebook. If you need any help the people who work in the bookstore will probably know what you need and they are really nice.</p>
