I want to enroll in Honors General Chemistry for my freshman year but my chemistry is really rusty so can anyone tell me an approximate date I can take the placement test before Fall Semester starts so that I have an idea of how much time I will have to prepare for the test?

Thanks!

You can choose to take it the day(s) before class starts (after you've moved in), or during orientation which begins in late July-August (i think), so you've got an ample amount of time to enjoy break and study up.

If I take it right before the classes start then will I have time to even register for them? I'd imagine that there are less honors classes and that they would fill up quite quickly.

Thanks for the response!

Also, if I took general chemistry 1 at a nearby community college would they let me into the CHEM 2AH class without a placement test? Specifically I'm talking about taking CHEM 1A at Irvine Valley College and retaking it at Davis as 2AH

I believe youd still have to take the placement test even though you took it at a CC because I’m not sure they are the same. Best to double check though.

And at your orientation, you take the placement test and find out your results like the day later. If you are unhappy, you then have the option to take it I believe 2 more times before the quarter ends. In order to get to Chem2AH you have to get a certain % right (I forgot how many). You can add the class at orientation, BUT… if you do not get enough right on the placement exam by the end of the quarter, they will drop you from the class.

whats the difference between honors gen chem and jus gen chem?
