Gen Chem 23L vs Orgo Chem 151L.

Which is an easier class?

Eric Tonne sounds like a nightmare on ratemyprofessor. And I read on CC somewhere that Orgo doesn't really involve a lot of general chemistry.

it seems to me that if u have a 5 on the ap chem exam plus a high SAT math score that u should definitely go straight to orgo...

4/5 can both take Orgo.

Well I have a 4, 800 Chem, 800 Math II/SAT. Took chemistry my junior year, I think I am going with Chem 22L, gonna avoid the freshmen orgo and Tonne's Chem 23L.

Good, bad, okay?

And for premed, I would be doing Chem 19, Chem 22L, Chem 151L, Chem 152L, right? Additionally, there is a high chance that I would want to tansfer from a BME to Chem.

Switch out of Chem 23 before it's too late!

Yeah, don't take 23. Either take 22 for review or go straight into orgo.

Chem starts with 21L and 22L, then 151L and 152L. That's all that's required for pre-med, although if you're a chem major, you get to have fun with physical chem and all that good stuff. However, if you're going to start in 22L, that's only 3 semesters of chem, so you'll have to take biochemistry or something in your junior or senior year.

depending on your med school of choice, AP Chem credit could be accepted.

if you got a 5 on the ap chem test are you not allowed to take chem 21? Even if you opt not to use the ap chem credit?

Where did you hear that?

some advisor said we're not eligible to take chem 21 if we got a 5

I have my doubts. Should check with the chem department to be sure.

See how many Chemistry courses you need. If you got a 5 on the AP test, you honestly should take 151 because you've clearly mastered (or shown great skill in) the subject thus far. If not and you feel you need more preparation, then Chem 23 is a good option as well. It is more challenging, but taking on challenges is why you got here in the first place, right?
