which UCs are strong in chemistry related majors??

What type of chemistry interests you? Say, pre-pharmacy chemistry?

"which UCs are strong in chemistry related majors??"

UC Berkeley is the only university in the United States that has a College of Chemistry. Other universities have departments of chemistry, but not an entire college dedicated to the subject area. Within the College of Chemistry at Cal, there are three majors: chemical engineering, chemistry, and chemical biology.

Look at number 97 on the periodic table, what do you see? Yes, Berkelium.

yea im more interested in prepharmacy chemistry

Didn't they make Californium too? UCSD is pretty nice for pre-pharm, but take it as biochemistry, not pharmocological science since it's not as accepted as biochem. <<< What my friend who's doing that told me 'cause she switched her major after she got in.

sorry what do you mean pharmacological science is not accepted as biochemistry?? :S

I'm not sure of it myself, but this is what my friend who's training to be a pharmacist told me. Some places don't seem to recognize pharmocological science as much as biochemistry. At any rate, UCSD has a good reputation for pharm, and them opening up Skaggs only makes it better. For general chem though, I agree with Righteous Berkeley is pretty strong.

ohh do you why??
then would it be better to major in chemistry or biochemistry for pharmacy?

Biochemistry. I think you might want to do research on it, though. I'm hearing this from people going in this major but I never bothered to ask in depth since that isn't the field I'm looking at right now.

ohh i see. thanks for the info Peppers :)

They are more knowledgeable about such matter.

another question.
how are the bio / chem majors of UCs comparing to USC
