What is a "good" score for the Chemistry Subject test?

I am planning on applying to Cornell, and I got a 700 on the Chemistry II SATs. Is that considered good?

Thanks!

You may want to improve that. 700 isn't bad, but many people do better, although, I shouldn't be talking. I thought I did well on my May SAT II Chemistry test, but it didn't go so well. So, I'm going to take it again in June.

Hm..thanks! Is it too late to register for June?

Yes, it is.

standby testing

Is a 700 good enough for people applying for pre-med programs?

You'll probably want to try to take it again to raise your score. I'd recommend picking up one of those prep books from the princeton review, barrons, kaplan or somewhere and take the practice tests in them.

For a science major applying to all the good pre-med schools and combined BS/MD programs (many of which require Chem sat II), at what score do you think a retake would be unnecessary?

haha,

oh my gosh! don't even stress!

700 in SAT2 is amazing!
chemistry is considered to be one of the hardest SAT2's

Obviously someone getting a 700+ has picked up a prep book... I know there are those exceptions who get 800s with out reviewing, but I'm guessing anyone who has to semi-work for their grades picked up a review book to earn that scores. Thats a great score in the eyes of many, and getting 730+ takes more than glancing at a prep book and taking a practice test (unless you are an aforementioned amazing test taker)
