Chemistry SAT

Well I have a Passion for chemistry that I recently discovered but I am only in normal because I was scared(my only normal class). And I want to take the SAT for it since I want to be a chem engineer. Is it so hard that you should take AP? If I took it it would be in 3 months.

I kinda don’t get your question. I am currently taking Chem AP at my high school and I just took SAT II Chem yesterday, I would say the AP class definitely helped. I took Chem Honors the year before and I am glad that I didn’t take it last year because regular chem or chem Honors don’t teach everythin (only basice stuff.) However, you can still get good scores by independent studying. Try borrowing an SAT prep book from your library it helps! I borrowed the Princeton Review one and it helped me a lot!

(but I would have to say that only taking AP chem is not enough for SAT II because there’re still some stuff that is missing, not because of SAT II very hard, indeed they are very basic compared to AP) but sometimes you don’t have to know that deep or that detailed like you know in AP

that’s why I suggest borrowing a book and study by yourself too!

My DS took the Chem SAT II after he took honors chem last year as a sophomore. He loves chem and studied for SAT Ii via one of the study guides. He did very well (high 700s). He has a friend at another school that did the same thing - also a soph - and he got an 800.

I think it depends on how well you self-study on top of the course you are taking.

DS not taking AP Chem till next year (taking AP Phys) this year so taking the subject test at the end of senior year is pointless.
