Chemistry Textbooks

Good mornin,
I'm going to start re-teaching myself some chemistry so I can fit in with the advanced chem classes [if I somehow get it in my schedule, that is.] What are some good general, advanced textbooks for chem? So far I've looked in to Chang's "Chemistry", "Chemistry: The Central Science", and "Chemistry: The Molecular Nature of Matter and Change." Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Zumdahl's "Chemistry" is really good - we used this year in our AP Class and I got a 5 (I mostly did all the stuff from reading in the book so it is a really good book)

thanks for the suggestion.

oh and for some information that may be pertinent, i will be a freshman in college next year, and I took an honors chem class sophomore year of high school.

i second zumdahl...we used it in our high school AP class as well and i know that its going to be used for our freshman advanced chem class in college (USC) too

i third zumdahl (if it is even necessary) and used it in AP. It worked for stuff and it even helped on the formal charge question that I was going to not read but read anyways thankfully ...

another vote for Zumdahl. My son used it to self-study for the AP exam and made a 5. It's also made it to the pile of books he plans to take to college, and he doesn't even like chemistry.

Hooray for Zumdahl. I wish I would have gotten to be taught by him. A lot of the older students get to visit his house. He apparently is rich as hell and owns tons of cars. Crazy.

Chang is good. Avoid Oxtoby like the plague.

Yeah, the old IB chem teacher ordered those zumdahl books before he moved away...

The new one didnt want to use them so instead we were essentialy using the books that had been replaced by the current normal-level chem books while the zumdahls sat around and eventually got sold for some ultra low price to some guy...go easy crappy books! I guess I shouldnt complain, I was one of the two people to get the highest score from our school (a 6) but I bet I would have learned more with a real book.
